Privacy Policy

Application: homelab  ·  Last updated: 2 October 2026

In short: homelab is a private backup tool used by one person, its owner. It accesses only that person's own Google account, stores nothing about anyone else, and shares nothing with anyone.

1. Who this applies to

homelab is a personal, non-commercial automation project operated on private hardware by a single individual. It is not offered to the public, has no other users, and no third party can access it.

2. What data the application accesses

With the account owner's explicit consent, the application accesses the owner's own Google Drive through the Google Drive API. It uses this access solely to:

It does not access any other person's data, and it does not access any Google service beyond the Drive scope the owner has approved.

3. How data is used

Backup data is used for one purpose: restoring the owner's own systems if they fail. No data is analysed, profiled, mined, or used to train anything.

4. Data sharing and disclosure

No data is sold, rented, traded, or shared with any third party. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Data is transferred only to Google Drive, at the owner's direction, and otherwise remains on the owner's own private hardware.

5. Data storage and retention

Backup copies are stored in the owner's own Google Drive account and on the owner's own server. Retention is decided entirely by the owner; older backup snapshots are deleted automatically on a schedule the owner sets.

6. Security

Backups are encrypted before they leave the owner's server. Access to the Google account is protected by the owner's own Google credentials and two-factor authentication. Credentials are never shared and never transmitted to any third party.

7. Revoking access

The owner may revoke this application's access to their Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which immediately and permanently ends the application's access.

8. Children's privacy

This application is not directed at children and processes no data relating to children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it. Because the application has a single user, changes are communicated to that person directly.
